In Emilia Romagna there are 21 villages that, despite being in the Apennines, hills or plains and having Roman, Medieval or Renaissance origins, still have something in common: they are the Orange Flags villages of Emilia Romagna.

In the last months thanks to our rubrica dedicated to villages we presented them one per week, but here you can find them summarized, from Piacenza to Rimini, with the link to the relative dedicated blogpost.

The Bandiere Arancioni Association, linked to the TCI – Touring Club Italiano, since 1998 certifies the small (within 15,000 inhabitants) excellent villages in the hinterland, with the aim of promoting the sustainable tourism development of a large part of the national territory.
To enter the Association, a Territorial Analysis Model of the TCI – MAST is applied to the Municipalities, which evaluates among the over 250 criteria of analysis, the willingness to undertake a path of improvement of the destination, to be able to create a tourism offer system, to stand out for typicality and enhancement of its identity and culture, to present artistic, architectural, naturalistic resources accessible and usable, to demonstrate a sensitivity towards issues of territorial sustainability, to offer a well-preserved historical center that is not compromised by interventions and/or alterations, to don’t present elements that threaten the overall attractiveness of the destination.
Becoming part of the network allows the individual areas to enhance their resources, boost entrepreneurship, stimulate typical food and wine and craft production and strengthen the local identity, creating territorial synergies with other members with similar characteristics and standards.
The assignment of the trademark is temporary and subject to the maintenance of the requirements, which are checked every three years.

As a tourist-environmental quality brand, know that visiting an Orange Flag village will be a unique and authentic 360° travel experience.
