For lovers of slow tourism and holidays on two wheels the Romagna territory offers numerous itineraries among nature, culture, typical products and breathtaking views. Here we selected 4 easy routes, suitable for everyone: let’s discover them!

“Sea-loving” panoramic route

RIMINI > FIORENZUOLA > FANO > FIORENZUOLA > RIMINI

Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 107km
Elevation gain: 650mt

Surrounded by trees and flowers, and with some breath-taking views, this panoramic route offers a special perspective onto the Romagna Riviera. A 107km itinerary suitable for everyone, from novice cyclists to experts wanting to train on undulating roads, where they can pedal hard to achieve a rhythm.
You leave from Rimini and head towards Cattolica on to Gabicce Mare, where, after a brief ascent, you join the panoramic route.
The road undulates until Pesaro, and then continues on the flat as far as Fano.
Here, you do a U-turn and retrace your steps.

The River Ronco and Ravenna Capital of Empire

FRATTA > FORLIMPOPOLI > FORNÒ > GHIBULLO > RAVENNA > SAN BARTOLO > SANTO STEFANO > FORLIMPOPOLI > FRATTA

Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 77.5km
Elevation gain: 100mt

From Fratta, head towards Forlimpopoli, where you can visit the 16th-century fortress built by the Ordelaffi Family, and the Casa Artusi, home of Pellegrino Artusi, Italy’s first cookery writer.
Cycle through the railway underpass and continue for San Leonardo, then, after 2 km, turn left onto Via del Santuario. You will come to a 15th-century church, built with a circular plan, financed by the knight of fortune, Bianco da Durazzo, using the proceeds of his spoil. This worship place is unique in Europe because it contains another church, also circular in form (visits must be booked in advance).
Continue towards Bagnolo and take the road that runs beside the River Ronco and leads to Ravenna.
In the town centre, the tourist trail will guide you through the most important UNESCO monuments constructed between the 5th and 6th centuries, when Ravenna was Capital of the Western Roman Empire (from 403 to 453 A.D.), and then Capital of Italy (until 750 A.D.).
Many of these fine buildings also contain beautiful mosaics, such as the Basilica of San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, the Neonian Baptistery, and the Mausoleum of Theodoric.
On the trail through the city, you can also visit the Dante Zone, with the tomb of the poet, and in Via Zagarelli alle Mura you can see the home of Francesca da Polenta, the unfortunate lover of Paolo Malatesta.
On your return journey, follow the cyclists’ route towards Bertinoro along the Via Cella starting from Madonna dell’Albero. Return to Forlimpopoli, and then follow your original route back to Fratta.

The Sangiovese circuit

RICCIONE > CORIANO > MERCATINO CONCA > RICCIONE

Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 65km
Elevation gain: 600mt

A simple route, suitable also for novice cyclists who want to increase their fitness level.
This 65-km round trip with a vertical drop of 60 meters is easy is surrounded by green vineyards in an area full of wineries which produce the famous Sangiovese di Romagna D.O.C. Wine.

To the Altars of Romagna

RIMINI > SANTARCANGELO > CESENATICO > BELLARIA > RIMINI

Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 61km
Elevation gain: 250mt

This is the ideal route for a day of active recuperation: 61 km long, with almost no change in level. From Rimini, you head towards Covignano, reaching S. Ermete after just 15 km, on a slightly uphill road (the only climb in this itinerary).
From here, you head downhill towards Santarcangelo, where the platter begins: 41 km of totally flat going until S. Angelo di Gatteo, Cesenatico, Gatteo Mare, Bellaria, Torre Pedrera and Viserba.
In Cesenatico you should make sure to visit the Spazio Pantani, a multimedia museum near the railway station which takes visitors through the career of the famous Pirate. Then you can enjoy one of Romagna’s most famous specialities: the piadina sandwich. It is no accident that this itinerary is also known as Pantani and the Romagna piadina.
