Emilia-Romagna is one of the most important regions of Italy for its wine production, with over 50’000 hectares dedicated to vines, from which are realized international wines like Pignoletto, Albana, with out missing the king of Romagna… Sangiovese wine! But next to this incredible productions it’s impossible not to find a likewise good celebration of the red n’ white nectar. Many events are created and celebrated every year, and the Emilia Romagna Tourism staff wants to bring you into wine’s world, along the different location of the Region, where you’ll have a good wine glass, tasting the typical food perfectly combined.
CONCORSO ENOLOGICO “MATILDE DI CANOSSA – TERRE DI LAMBRUSCO” (RE)

Lambrusco wine
“Matilde di Canossa – Terre di Lambrusco” Wine Competition highlights and promotes the best production of dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet and sweet Lambrusco wine, as well as awarding and encouraging the wine-making enterprises to continuously improve the quality of their products. Wine-making enterprises with headquarters and/or plants in the provinces of Reggio Emilia, Modena, Parma and Mantua. Judges evaluation will follow the lines of the prestigious “Union internationale des œnologues”.
I TRE GIORNI DEL SANGIOVESE (FC)
Three days in Predappio dedicated to the famous Romagna’s wine, an event that could easely links wine and culture, publicizing the red nectar in the best way all over the world. The first three days of September are colored every year of the good taste of this wine, between tastings, concerts and art exhibitions. Probably you don’t know the origin of the wine’s name, from the latin “Sanguis Jovis” (Jupiter’s blood), from the name of the hill where it was born, created in an ancient monastery.
SAGRA DELL’UVA E DEL LAMBRUSCO GRASPAROSSA DI CASTELVETRO (MO)
At the end of September every year this event wants to celebrate a famous Emilia’s wine: Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro of Modena. The festival proposes a real promotion of the countryside vocation, exalting the wine’s excellence combined to the typical food of this Emilia-Romagna’s location. The Lambrusco Grasparossa is the central theme of the initiatives in squares and yards of the city center, with concerts, shows, little markets where you could find food and artisan’s crafting, other than the famous carnival float parade, dedicated to the Greek God of wine Bacco.
GIOVINBACCO IN PIAZZA (RA)
Ravenna every year celebrates the Sangiovese wine with the event all dedicated to this typical Romagna’s wine. At the end of October the beautiful city becomes the perfect theatre to find good wine and food of the region. The audience could walk through the wonderful ancient streets, exploring wine bars and taverns along the way, talking and enjoying themselves in a very jovial mood.
ENOLOGICA (BO)
Re Enzo palace in Bologna creates the perfect union between wine and food, in which the identity becomes the central idea of the specialities of the Emilia-Romagna. Producers, consortiums and wine bars are all invited in the beautiful rooms of the palace, where are organized seminaries, culinary experiences with an hight cultural substance. Many exhibitions and events that narrate what Emilia-Romagna and its specialities are.
