Passionate about music and photography? Fascinated by fashion and collecting? Then your destination is Mercanteinfiera exhibition in Parma.
This event dedicated to memory hunters, antiques, design objects and modern antiques (including vintage cameras) hosts two interesting photo exhibitions : Paolo Brillo. Stolen Moments. Bob Dylan and Other Music Icons e ITALIAN FASHION Identity, transformation and gender imaginaries (1960-1980). A journey through CSAC Archives.
Thirty Years of Bob Dylan Shots
The author of the first exhibition is Paolo Brillo and its subject is Bob Dylan. Brillo has collected shots of the singer-songwriter since 1989, taken with a disassembled and hidden camera while attending more than a thousand concerts.
Almost an obsession for Brillo, who created a sort of epic of Dylan’s Never Ending Tour which resulted in the 250 shots of the book No Such Thing As Forever.
Organized in collaboration with Milan’s Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea Gallery, the exhibition includes 40 images from the book and a gem too: Dylan’s photo at his last concert in Milan in July 2023.
In his three decades of constant and passionate documentation, Brillo has produced a repertoire in which he has captured the rock star’s looks and gestures, despite the fact that Bob Dylan’s concerts are phone-free.

The Transformation of the Fashion System
ITALIAN FASHION Identity, transformation and gender imaginaries (1960-1980), organised in collaboration with the CSAC Archive – Communication Study Centre and Archive and curated by Lucia Miodini, tackles the transformation of the fashion system between the late 1960s and the 1980s by also investigating its communication in a phase in which women and men merged stylistically with the same language.
Atelier Albertina, Giorgio Armani, Krizia and Versace are just some of the names that contributed to building this new fashion conception.
Thanks to the materials preserved in the Fashion Archives of the CSAC, the exhibition represents the intertwining of makeover culture, media and gender studies, emphasising the role of multidisciplinarity in fashion research.

The Infinite Shapes of the Corkscrew
The third exhibition taking place at Mercanteinfiera is not photographic, but is definitely worth being photographed. It is dedicated to an accessory – patented in 1795 – that was considered as essential in the luggage of an early 20th century gentleman.
We are talking about the corkscrew, which is presented in its infinite variations (also by designers such as Gio Ponti) in the exhibition In vino veritas: The infinite shapes of the corkscrew, organised in collaboration with the Musei del Cibo (Food Museums) of the Province of Parma.
The Governor's Palace Hosts THE 1950s
THE 1950s – American Stories of the Great Magnum Photographers is another photo exhibition you can visit in Parma, from 6 October at Palazzo del Governatore.
Dedicated to the American culture of the 1950s, the exhibition features some eighty photographs from the Magnum Photos archive as a preview of the first edition of the Winter Jamboree: the new winter format of Summer Jamboree, the international music and culture festival of America in the 1940s and 1950s scheduled from 7 to 10 December 2023 at Fiere di Parma.
The exhibition also presents unpublished shots by photographers such as Werner Bischof, Philippe Halsman, Inge Morath, Cornell Capa, Bruce Davidson and Eve Arnold.
