The city became <strong>a crucible for his political engagement<\/strong>, as he embraced the ideals of the Carbonari and supported Italy\u2019s fight for freedom and independence. This period inspired some of his most mature works, including <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cain_(play)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Cain<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Prophecy_of_Dante\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Prophecy of Dante<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Byron\u2019s life came to a premature end in Missolonghi<\/strong>, Greece, in 1824, where he died fighting for Greek independence.
