it then enters the <a href=\"https:\/\/emiliaromagnaturismo.it\/en\/nature-outdoor\/natural-parks\/high-modenese-apennines-regional-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parco Regionale dell&#8217;Alto Appennino Modenese<\/a>, crosses the valley of the Scoltenna stream and climbs to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/emiliaromagnaturismo.it\/en\/towns\/sestola\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sestola<\/a><\/strong>, a village on the slopes of Monte Cimone, where there is another panoramic <a href=\"https:\/\/castelliemiliaromagna.it\/en\/s\/sestola\/6081-rocca_di_sestola\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Castle<\/a>. Mari-J via shutterstock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From the small town of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/emiliaromagnaturismo.it\/en\/towns\/vignola\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vignola<\/a><\/strong>, famous for its cherries and where you can visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/castelliemiliaromagna.it\/en\/s\/vignola\/6087-rocca_di_vignola\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rocca<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitmodena.it\/en\/discover-modena\/art-and-culture\/historic-buildings-and-castles\/barozzi-palace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palazzo Contrari-Boncompagni<\/a>, with its magnificent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelemiliaromagna.it\/en\/breathtaking-staircases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spiral staircase<\/a> designed by the Mannerist architect Jacopo Barozzi, you drive along the Panaro valley floor; as you climb towards the mountains, the orchards give way to meadows, gullies and woods until you reach the mountain town of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/emiliaromagnaturismo.it\/en\/towns\/fanano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fanano<\/a><\/strong>, also known as the &#8220;town of stone&#8221;, with its well-preserved old town centre.
