{"id":44351,"date":"2017-01-12T08:53:00","date_gmt":"2017-01-12T07:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.travelemiliaromagna.it\/climbing-routes-emilia-romagna\/"},"modified":"2023-07-24T15:11:22","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T14:11:22","slug":"climbing-routes-emilia-romagna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.travelemiliaromagna.it\/en\/climbing-routes-emilia-romagna\/","title":{"rendered":"Top Rock Climbing Destinations in Emilia-Romagna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Light as birds, dancing on handholds shaped by time, twirling in the air until the top.<\/p>\n<p>This, according to the most poetic enthusiasts, is <strong>the philosophy of climbing<\/strong>, a practice combining the love for nature and sports, with a hint of mountain asceticism.<\/p>\n<p>Because conquering the top of a mountain is no mean feat: it takes courage, strong dedication, respect for the mountain and a good dose of unconsciousness.<\/p>\n<p>For people who love rock climbing, the <strong>Apennines of Emilia-Romagna offer a wide range of possibilities<\/strong>, from easier hills for beginners to hard climbs for those with more experience.<\/p>\n<p>Today, we would like to take you on the wall, to places where you can meet other fans of this extreme sport, new friends to go climbing with, but also stunning spots for a walk or a picnic, with mountains all around you.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"title-evidenza\">Rocca di Badolo (Bologna)<\/span><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36172\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36172\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-36172 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelemiliaromagna.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Badolo-@rebygein-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Badolo | Foto by @rebygein via Instagram\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Badolo Crag (BO) | Credit: rebygein, via Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve worn your helmet, climbing shoes and harness, and found a friend who will be your belayer person, get to the slopes of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecrag.com\/en\/climbing\/italy\/area\/1030282860\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rocca di Badolo<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Located <strong>a few kilometres away from Sasso Marconi<\/strong>, the so-called sandcastle is a daily destination for climbers and athletes from the entire region.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the largest and oldest free spots for climbing in Emilia-Romagna, and is o<strong>ften used as an open-air gym<\/strong> by the many local associations to teach boys and girls the art of climbing and the culture of respect for the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>With a <strong>vertical surface of 120 metres<\/strong> and its countless routes, Badolo is a place accessible to both beginners and habitual climbers.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to its good exposure, it is often possible to climb it under the sun, making<strong> it a perfect spot also in winter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"title-evidenza\">Pietra di Bismantova<\/span><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36173\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36173\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-36173 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelemiliaromagna.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Bismantova-@matteasels-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Pietra di Bismantova | Foto by @matteasels via Instagram\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36173\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pietra di Bismantova (RE) | Credit: matteasels, via Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the Apennines around Reggio Emilia, you can find <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.appenninoreggiano.it\/en\/scheda\/the-classic-climbing-routes-of-the-pietra-di-bismantova\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pietra di Bismantova<\/a><\/strong>, a characteristic geological formation at 1047 metres above sea level.<\/p>\n<p>As a narrow upland with steep walls, Bismantova is also mentioned in the Divine Comedy, where Dante compares it to the Mount of Purgatory.
